Schedule 04 — Hardwood charcoal

Ayin hardwood charcoal. Long burn, clean heat, nothing added.

Made from dense Nigerian hardwoods such as Ayin (Anogeissus leiocarpa), our lump charcoal lights easily, holds a steady heat for hours and burns with little smoke, spark or ash. It carries the natural hardwood aroma that shisha lounges and grill restaurants look for — with no chemicals, binders or fillers, ever.

The journey

From the field to the ship.

Seven stages, start to finish. Scroll and the stage on the left follows along.

01Stage one
01 · Ayin hardwood

It starts with the densest wood we can get.

Ayin (Anogeissus leiocarpa) and similar Nigerian hardwoods grow slowly and finish dense — which is the whole reason this charcoal burns long and hot. Logs are cut to length and stacked to season before they ever see a kiln.

02 · The kiln burn

Days of slow carbonising, nothing added.

The wood is carbonised slowly in earth kilns over several days, with the vents controlled so the burn stays starved of air. Nothing is added — no chemicals, no binders, no fillers — so what comes out is wood and carbon and nothing else.

03 · Cooling & screening

Cooled fully, then screened to your cut.

The kiln is opened only once it is cold. Lumps are screened and hand‑graded into the cuts buyers actually order — small even pieces for shisha, mixed sizes for restaurants, big hard lumps for barbecue — and the dust is taken out.

04 · Fixed carbon & ash

The four figures that decide the price.

Fixed carbon, ash, moisture and calorific value are what separate good charcoal from filler. Ours is tested on those before bagging into 10 – 25 kg bags, with your own branding if you want it.

  • Fixed carbon ≥ 75 % · ash ≤ 4 %
  • Moisture ≤ 5 % · ≥ 7,000 kcal / kg
  • Sizes sieved and hand‑graded
05 · Filling & weighing

Filled, weighed and branded.

Screened lump is filled into 10, 15, 20 or 25 kg bags on the scale — plain PP, paper, or printed with your own brand — and weighed so every bag on the pallet is the same.

06 · Container stuffing

Counted in, sealed under supervision.

Bags are stuffed and tallied under supervision and the container is sealed and photographed. Charcoal ships year‑round; allow longer lead times in the rainy season.

07 · Port & sea

Cleared at Lagos. Sailing to you.

Our team handles export clearance and the documents at Apapa and Tin Can Island, then shares the bill of lading and vessel tracking until your container lands.
